The ninth British Curry Awards which was held on 25th November 2013 at Battersea Evolution in central London and hosted by Chris Tarrant. Guests were treated to a Gala Dinner and entertainment in a lavish black tie event.
Just month after winning the English Curry Awards for the South East of England, our very own local takeaway Masala Bay was nominated for the finals of the British Curry Awards.Last night’s awards were packed with MPs, celebrities and the guest of honour was Prime Minister David Cameron.

Some of the famous attending included: Host: Sir Clive Woodward, Melinda Messenger, Celebrity Chef James Martin & Chef Atul Kochar.
* Finalists were whittled down from 263,000 public nominations. Winners were judged on a number of points, including menu choice, wine list, the exterior and interior decor and food presentation.
* Around 25 million curried dishes are consumed in Britain every week, with around 10,000 curry restaurants and takeaways across the land.
*Together they employ 80,000 people and contribute a staggering £3.6 billion a year to the economy.
No wonder David Cameron describes it as Britain’s national dish.
Masala Bay was 1 of 6 takeaways in the UK that made it on the top 100 list of best restaurants and takeaways. On the night, Masala Bay missed out on the Best Takeaway award to: Polash Indian Takeaway in Dartford.“We are extremely proud to have reached the finals. To be listed amongst the top 100 restaurants and takeaways and being one of the top 6 takeaways in UK is absolutely amazing.
